How to Fit Amtico Flooring

Amtico flooring is a great alternative to various other flooring types as it has the ability of replicating both wood and tile floors whilst also providing a range of benefits. With a huge selection of Amtico designs to choose from, you will be able to enhance your property in any way you like. Amtico flooring can also be laid over existing floorboards, making the installation process a lot quicker as there is no need to remove your skirting boards.

It is important to make sure your floor is fully prepped before installing Amtico into your property. Here's what you can do to make sure your new flooring lasts as long as possible.

Preparation

The surface you are planning to fit Amtico flooring onto should always be dust and moisture free. Because of this, it is important to use a primer to prepare the flooring for installation. After doing this, you can then apply a fast-drying cement or latex screed. This will help to create an even surface and ensure the Amtico flooring is level with the rest of your property. You will then need to spread an adhesive so that the Amtico panels stay in place. This will need to dry for 10-15 minutes or depending on what type you have. After this, you can then start to place down your Amtico flooring.

Installation

Once you are ready to lay the Amtico flooring, make sure you start at the central line of the room and move from there to the left and right sides. When it comes to awkward areas such as door frames, edges and corners, make sure you dry lay and cut all the floor pieces before laying them onto the adhesive. After placing each panel, you will need to use a roller as this helps the flooring to fully press into the adhesive. This will also allow you to be sure the floor is secure and in place. As an expansion gap doesn't need to be considered when installing Amtico flooring, you will be able to place the panels in the exact place you wish to have them.
